Frequency Smiling

Raise your vibes with a smile.

 

One of the quickest and easiest ways to raise your vibes is to simply smile. That tiny little smile, that may feel like a grimace at first, releases an avalanche of physiological reactions that occur within your body. 

I refer to episodes of experiencing harsh self-talk, worry or stress, "Thought Storms." Thought storms wreaks havoc on your physical and mental well-being. When you find yourself in the middle of self-deprecating talk  or a general feeling of doubt or aggravation, pause and smile.  Your brain will intervene by releasing "feel-good" chemicals called neurotransmitters like dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin. These substances help to elevate mood, reduce stress levels, and promote a sense of well-being.

 

The physical act of smiling triggers the release of neuropeptides, tiny molecules that facilitate communication between neurons, leading to decreased levels of cortisol, a hormone associated with stress.

The facial muscles involved in smiling send signals to the brain that reinforce the feeling of happiness and relaxation. Collectively, these body chemistry reactions create a positive feedback loop, reinforcing the act of smiling and its associated benefits.

 

A simple smile uplifts the spirit in the moment, while nurturing a healthier body and mind over time.
