Revealing Past Emotions

The days are a vivid color and  may sometimes be viewed   in a dreamlike state. Sometimes we are feeling like we are being moved through time and space detached from the present moment. Our experiences from our past raise expectantly from the deep storage spaces of our brain. Some bring sadness and tears some bring joy.

God speaks to me through my memories bringing up the ones that need attention.  Forgiveness to myself and others, mercy, grace. Some memories need to be acknowledges as accomplishments or seasons of great happiness. Some are things that happened just because they did and may not even have been a part of my story but possibly someone elses story that crossed into mine.

All of this memory cleansing reminds me of watching my computer being restored from a recent crash. Things that I had forgotten about showed up in the process of restoration which triggered a progression of memories and events associated with the topic. Some of the issues were pleasant and some not so much.

Recent bursts of creativity are followed by fatigue. The emotions and physical body feel like a sprinter as we move forward into this New Year.  Short blasts of thoughts feeding our minds with all of the wonderful creative things we can accomplish tend to overwhelm us as we try to put the ideas into action while in the process of accepting our past situations.

Along with the personal inventory comes the physical discomfort of releasing hurt and emotional trauma and pain.  The body responds with physical symptoms equated to emotional experiences whether real or imaginary.

Some of the physical symptoms:

  • Leg cramps ( restless leg syndrome)
  • Aching joints and muscles
  • Deep inner ear pain
  • Temporary TMJ
  • Mental confusion
  • Short term memory loss
  • Rapid weight fluctuations of 5 pounds
  • Shorter bursts of anger that we know  we  must  manage
  • A sense of loss for your past successes in life and not having a definite direction
  • Sensitivity to sound.( Everything is too loud.)
  • Shortness of breath. Sighing heavily or feeling a little suffocated.

In my life this is God speaking to me. Working through me to peel off the emotional layers that are no longer necessary for me to hold onto or suppress. A particular scripture jumped out at me the other night to remind that I am not alone in this experience.

Jonah 2:7 KJV  ” When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.”
